Conflict Management
This module helps participants identify sources of conflict and provides tools and techniques for assessing and managing conflict. It introduces a model for managing differences that includes nine unique, approaches for effectively handling conflict. Participants determine which approaches will help them be more successful in dealing with and resolving conflict. Participants work through simulations to learn how to best handle conflict between themselves and others, as well as conflict between two people that they must referee. Participants plan and practice a conflict resolution session in preparation for dealing with a conflict they currently have. Finally, this module highlights six common conflict behavior types and how to effectively confront each one. top

Dealing With Difficult Situations

It introduces the Johari Window as a method to learn more about themselves and others. Participants learn about the four behavior styles, along with which behavior style they are and how to deal with each style. Participants also discuss strategies for dealing with difficult behavior and ways to circumvent or eliminate difficult behavior. Also included is an appendix which covers six specific difficult behaviors and how to manage each one. top

Decision Making and Problem Solving
This module provides participants with an overview of a five-step problem solving process to be used when difficult or chronic problems occur. As a group, participants will quickly work through the process on an actual work-related problem, which they identify. Participants develop specific skills and analyze a problem in order to ensure that the "right" problem is being addressed; they will develop alternative solutions to arrive at the best solution, and develop an action plan for implementing and tracking the solution. Finally, participants plan and present a clear, concise presentation of the proposed solution and its effect on the bottom line. top

Effective Communication
This highly interactive module addresses why effective communication is important and it develops participants' knowledge of effective communication skills. The training in this module can be modified for a broad expanse of skill levels, from the beginner through the polished professional. Quest has a number of instruments available for assessing both participants' and other employees' communication styles to determine the most effective way to communicate within an individual company. Behaviors which enhance/impair effective communication are explored and skills to change nonproductive into productive communication are emphasized. A simulation involving verbal and nonverbal communication is employed to reinforce clear communication principles. Participants interact with the instructor and each other and experience appropriate simulations, exercises, and practice sessions, which are then meaningfully applied to everyday work situations. top

Fundamentals of Leadership
This module focuses on the development of a working knowledge of the leadership styles that enhance productivity and profitability, and places an emphasis on understanding ways to gain employee involvement and trust. Leadership and communication styles are explored through the use of an assessment measurement that can be expanded to include 360° feedback. Participants identify characteristics of effective leaders. The importance of providing direction and vision to the people they manage is also discussed. top

Influence Skills
In this module, participants learn about the process and styles of influence. Participants identify their most and least frequently used styles, and practice using alternative styles. This module introduces a model for influencing others that includes a unique, four-style approach, which is studied in-depth, with equal focus on each of the four major approaches. Participants determine which styles will help them be more successful in dealing with others and obtaining commitment. Along with actual examples, participants will use exercises and simulations to practice new skills and then prepare for a current situation. top

Interpreting & Analyzing Data
This module introduces ways to use data to improve overall quality. The focus is on how to use data to make quality-based decisions. It covers such elements as variation, analyzing processes through the use of flow charts, how to collect data to make better decisions, ways to arrange data in various charts and diagram forms, and how to control and limit the amount of variation in processes. top

Managing Differences
This module helps participants learn the sources of conflict. The Managing Differences Inventory is used to identify participants' style of handling conflict. This module introduces a model for managing differences that includes a unique, nine-part approach for diffusing conflict which is studied in-depth, with equal focus on each of the nine approaches. Participants determine which styles will help them be more successful in dealing with and resolving differences, practice using these nine styles, and learn to vary them based on the situation. Along with actual examples, participants will use exercises and simulations to practice new skills and help translate these skills for use in everyday work situations. top

Managing Personal Change
In this module, participants will examine what holds them back from being the most effective they can be. They will explore the concept of "locking-on" to attitudes or beliefs that may be limiting their effectiveness, and will be provided the tools to change.
